As we began to design a company that represented our highest ideals and core values, I was reminded that successful companies are mission driven. For Disney, it was the creation of a magical place and imagination that drove their mission. For Coke, it was to make people feel refreshed and happy.

For PCG, our mission is driven by our desire to obtain real solutions and results for our clients. Yes, we also want you to be happy and we want you to have a magical experience, as we work to provide the highest quality of client service.

As a company, we will transform organizations by providing ways to access or increase capital, sustain with good policy, innovate with fresh ideas and lead with compassion for the people that we serve. It is my hope that you engage us to serve your organizational needs and spread the word about our work.

Demarcus Peters is President, CEO of Peters Consulting Group ("PCG"), headquartered in Los Angeles, California.

Throughout my career as an innovative leader in diversity and inclusion, I have dedicated my expertise in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion throughout organizations.

Whether helping businesses grow through access to capital or developing diversity programs targeted to improving organizational culture, I have observed the positive change that a robust diversity and inclusion program can have on an organization and the community served.

Some of the successes include expanding economic opportunities for disadvantaged, minority and woman owned businesses. My efforts led to an increase of diversity spend, year over year, which translated into an estimated $120 million dollars in revenue growth for these businesses as well as 31% participation for minority and woman-owned business on federally funded transit projects. As a result of this achievement, I was tapped to serve in the role of Chief Compliance Officer/Director of Diversity and Inclusion. In addition to the above responsibilities, I served as the agency’s EEO Officer; advising executive leadership on diversity and equal opportunity matters. This work involved ensuring that all decisions, activities, programs, and services were equitable and non-discriminatory nor adversely impacting current or potential employees, customers, communities, businesses, and stakeholders.

Partnering with the Human Resources departments, I was able to create programs internally that expanded employee and staff participation in open communications, monthly diversity dialogues and cultural appreciation initiatives. Externally, I created a partnership with USDOT, Small Business Transportation Resource Center to deliver access to capital and bonding education to small and disadvantaged businesses. This resulted in a 50% increase of minority participation in supplier programs which had previously remained flat for over 3 years.

These accomplishments were possible because of the ability to keenly identify and evaluate existing processes, make immediate improvements, save money, reduce risks and benchmark the results against the established goals. As an executive team member, I have focused on being a situational leader whether responding to an organizational issue or inspiring team members to reach their full potential. I work to earn the confidence of the community that I serve. As data driven leaders, we identify strategic priorities and establish metrics for success built on three guiding principles:

  • Influencing decisions related to revenue growth.
  • Increasing the knowledge and capacity of the team, advancing beyond mere awareness of our work, but understanding what our work means to an individual and to the communities that we support and serve.
  • Influencing decisions regarding engagement among key stakeholders- community based advocacy organizations, government/legislative entities, trade associations, financial institution partners, and businesses.
